Willie Graham’s practice centers on intensive field-based investigation of historic buildings and landscapes. Working primarily with traditional architecture from the 17th through the mid-19th centuries, the firm undertakes detailed on-site research that includes measured drawings, physical recording, material analysis, and publishable architectural and landscape photography. This firsthand documentation forms the foundation for historic structure reports, restoration planning, and interpretive guidance for museums, public agencies, institutions, and private clients.
The work is collaborative and interdisciplinary, often bringing together historians, archaeologists, conservators, architects, and craftspeople to interpret evidence in the field and translate it into clear, defensible conclusions. In addition to advisory and research roles, the practice produces technical reports, scholarly publications, and visual documentation that support conservation, restoration, reconstruction, and public interpretation. Across all projects, decisions are grounded in careful observation and analysis—ensuring that historic places are understood and treated with accuracy, restraint, and integrity.
